Informative, exciting and a bit 'more realistic view of the war in Vietnam, as seen through the eyes of the perspective of the soldiers. For the good of Hollywood storytelling, characters and events have been changed for dramatic purposes. So it is not a documentary, or even close to this book. The images, movies and war, was so realistic that the viewer a feeling for what was there. Unlike "Apocalypse Now", which was more metaphorical, not to say that Platoon, evennot rely heavily on symbols as well. The characters in the film has taken the role of symbolic representation of the struggle, was present to the soldiers who are not like all good or all bad times.
