Fantastic Mr. Fox

Customer Reviews

I had heard much hype about this film, and I do not really paying much attention. But recently, I had to rent not much on my plate, so I decided to try this. If they live up to its hype, at least for me? Well, not really, but it was still a pretty good movie.

The stop-motion is interesting, went to a feeling of shots, probably to give a touch of style to that of other famous films such as stop-motion Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (which is nice, with thethe road). I do not mind the animation, when I used to. He gives the film a certain charm.

My main problem with this film is that of finding other reviewers is hilarious fun, but I did not even laugh. I did not even smile. This film was more like a study of family relationships, as a comedy, and I think it succeeded in that. I felt as if it was food for thought on many levels, one of which is pattern recognitionshould be familiar to anyone with even a little family 'dysfunctional. On another level the film could be interpreted as a metaphor of human animal cast. When Mr. Fox on his soap box (literally) at the end of the film and made his speech on the value of what they had despite the fact that everything seems false ("those apples look fake, but at least they have the stars on them), made me think our society as we technologically advancedPast, which our species adapted effectively. So yes, most of our way of life is wrong, but still get their benefits and advantages. I liked how the animals are "apparently civilized behavior (clothing, read the paper) was in conflict with their animal side (ingest food, growling with each other) once I saw parallels in humanity - perhaps we are just wild animals.

One last thing - at first I found difficult, as Mr. Fox. He is just soegocentric as it may be difficult to tell. However, at the end of the film, I warmed to him. He is clearly a flawed hero, but I have a weakness for bad characters, and he does redeem himself. At the end of the day, which is terribly fascinating.

So, I recommend this film, but perhaps not as a comedy or a family movie, like many of the themes are very adult. Surely the first month's rent before buying it or not, as it can. GlobalBut I liked it.

Annie Hall

Customer Reviews

... Comics. We all know now intellectually with "Woody", excessive anxiety, underachieving inept in social life. We watched a little 'stand-up comedy routine to develop a fully developed character in the comic tradition of Charlie Chaplin's tramp or drunk fields. We know as "Woody" is in many situations we have already laughing before the joke act. Perhaps no one since Jack Benny is expected to be funny.
Yet there is always the realizationthat "Woody" is a projection of a real all Woody. That cartoon character, some painful truths. Which, as WC Fields was really drunk, so Woody Allen is probably so insecure about his height for girls, which usually incompetent in the daily struggle with life.
It is not that is the "real" Woody Allen as unfortunate as his creation of fantasy, but the character draws from the life of it through exaggeration. Annie Hall is the next Allen came withmaterials. It is not an autobiography, but we get the concept, sometimes, the scenes of the film were played first, really.
Allen plays Alvy Singer, stand-up comedian and incurable combination of neurotic and romantic. He is confident a New Yorker, a liberal, a Jew, an intellectual, a seeker after inaccessible and an expert on it unattainable. One of the problems of Alvy Singer is that he understands everything so well. He is not a victim ofForces outside its control, but their author.
And one problem that considers the provision itself is the problem of love. He falls in love too easily to girls, the right thing for him are all the ways little and inconsistent in all great. His girls tend to play is going through phases. If you are a liberal Adlai Stevenson at the end of 1950, he married another. When it comes to a romantic ten or fifteen years later, finds another, a kookie. His only problem is thatWomen are people, not stages.
This film dares in this material a bit 'more to go seriously and cohesive as they normally do in a film by Allen. Annie Hall is a comedy, yes, and there are times it's funny how Woody has done nothing, but the film is growing by Allen. By a director who has everything for a laugh, whose main task seems to be to exceed five minutes later, Allen in Sleeper, Love and Death, developed, and doing so in a movie wouldis much more reflective and (possible?) director more mature.
Perhaps that is why Annie Hall is a "nervous romance" Allen, because a little 'nervous about the boldness nostalgic, romantic and sentimental material. He throws in a few gags (like the funny walk-in Marshall McLuhan) almost to the old fans to calm down, laugh it all right to work. He wants to do much more only this time keep us laughing. With a look at some of its reports, someown model, wants to examine how a person works.
And then there are two Woody Allen here: our old friend Woody the original, making digressions like in-camera, and a new all who Alvy Singer creates his own image, then it always leaves a behavior, sometimes at cost of laughs. And 'the new Woody, who played the nervous romance, the complicated relationship with the aspiring nightclub singer Annie Hall (Diane Keaton has ainteresting mix of mothering, true love and absolute madness).
At the end of the story, we learned two things for certain: the long-term relationships are most likely impossible at this time or place (eg, New York City during the Woody Allen-life), and that life without search relations unthinkable. In film, Woody Groucho statement cites Marx would never for a club that someone like him would have accepted as a State. Then AllenMuses that perhaps should never be in a relationship where one partner has to sustain itself. Tricky, are not you? And in Annie Hall, it is very funny and sad, and difficult.

Death at a Funeral (2007)

Customer Reviews

I watched part of the first Death at a Funeral, online, after the remake came out, and a friend suggested I see the original. After a few minutes, I decided that I had to have the DVD.

A family suffers the loss of its patriarch and attempts to have a dignified service. It doesn't quite come off without a hitch. (The first sign that there might be problems is the funeral home bringing the wrong body to the funeral.) This story has sibling rivalry, inadvertent drug abuse, unrequited lust, marital discord, pre-marital discord, nudity, hypochondria, a profane senior citizen, and an attempt at a double burial.

I love British comedies, but, strangely enough, the best part of this one is the appearance of Alan Tudyk --born and raised in Texas-- playing the part of a fiance. He's brilliant, as usual. If I had my way, I'd cast Tudyk in every comedy for the next several years. Another delight is Peter Dinklage (playing the same part in the remake, by the way). As the bemused but determined stranger to the funeral "party," he is quietly (and sometimes not so quietly) hilarious. (I'd cast him in every comedy for the next several years, too.)

Recommended. ****

Real Genius

Customer Reviews

At fifteen years ago picked up a scholarship program in physics. Along the way he meets a girl who never sleeps, a nerd suck-up, protegy last child, who, under pressure, a nerd who had cracked the intensity and fun once again moved, and a professor who was deeply in pockets of the DoD. While he and his friends the project you are working laser, is a key component of a program ranked very dark, keeping a super weaponmilitary hands, and solder the professor, is that the use of their work.

Val Kilmer is brilliant as the nerd who decided to run, have fun, and William Atherton is as impressive as the professor who tries to scam the Ministry of Defence in its efforts was a student. Our hero girl is played by Michelle Meyrink, is hyper and goes through moods faster than many people pass through the tissue. Your charm put together a story that could be transferred to string more banal platitudes. It was an incredible show, never a fraction of the credit it deserves.

flick a lot of fun, take the popcorn and see Val Kilmer at his best, and some of best comedies of the 80s.

I've only seen the video or was in the background in my life more than sixty times since I bought it. This is a sweet romantic comedy like the old classic 30 and 40, with a touch of South American magical realism. Beautiful Brazilian music. Penelope Cruz is seen only pleasant and beautiful, her best friend is an unforgettable character, and I can not watch the movie to see another sixty times, her husband, sings his song. The film is visually beautiful and simply fun. WhileSoundtrack Amazon to order for your car, because you do not want to leave the music at home!

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead

Customer Reviews

Oh, what about "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead to say" (R & GrDead)? Shot in this film classic drama, we see two characters with little background and no future in the show "Hamlet." Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are naturally played by Tim Roth and Gary Oldman, respectively (or Gary Oldman and Tim Roth or? S'not Meh important) and ... Well, 'die.

As in all great tragedies, the main characters all suffer and die. Hamlet is no different. The prince is in a quandry as small a married mother of her deceased husband's brother. Hamlet is second banana to the throne, while his uncle, the father goes to the usurper. Hamlet (perhaps) be crazy to keep their skin causing great suffering of his beloved Ophelia. If your new king knew that Hamlet was sane, then Hamlet will soon follow the recently deceased king to his grave, more "no" and less "be".

Richard Dreyfus is the castleand his troupe of actors, the film is playing a "slightly altered Murder of Gonzaga. After the film for the newly crowned king, and show everyone how the old king was killed, we see Richard Dreyfus is also the film of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in view of their own death in the game and film. In one of the best scenes we see the play "Hamlet", where for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are playing the scene where the king once players"The murder of Gonzaga plays", while they themselves are in play "Hamlet" in the film "R & GrDead. This makes four times the geek in me all atwitter nesting. While everyone in an attempt to recover their past, discover gravity, inertia, the principle of Archimedes and flight, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are responsible for determining what is wrong with his childhood friend, Prince of Denmark.

A game at cards, is a masterpiece of work with excellent, thought-provokingHumor and quick dialogue. If you are not familiar with the play Hamlet, I would recommend, just before the "R & GrDead (Kevin Branagh's version is not Mel Gibson). While "Hamlet" is tense, dramatic and all that Shakespearean tragedy should, "R & GrDead" is a funny comedy in a tragedy has brought.

If you like Monty Python, Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, Absolutely Fabulous, etc., you want this move (some restrictions on love, not in all fifty states, users canThe experience of serenity because of the different levels of intelligence and tolerance for the absurd).

Batman: Gotham Knight

Customer Reviews

Batman: Gotham Knight was worth the bargain price I bought it. If you get about $ 15.99 then turns out to be a good deal. What you get is an original work of several directors and writers who shake lots of results that can impress or disappoint. The fact is that there is so much to see that the end is worth the time. Some scenes are much more boring than others, but the stories are very very good. Most of the shows in anime style with traditional artBatman scenerios. If you like the idea of Batman in a world of souls, then you will probably enjoy Batman: Gotham Knight.

What I liked: incarnations of Villains (Scarecrow was awesome), episode "Working through the pain" (favorite), entertainment for the most part are different takes on Batman costume, semi-continuity and Themes whole story. I also liked the special features. We had a lot of Batman villain of the story and comment. the original series episodes were funny.
I dislike: Maybe I'm not a die-hard anime fan, but the animation is sometimes boring. Ramirez Ramirez character was not linked with Nolan The Dark Knight, though he tried to do in this context. First episode was a little shock (at least my favorite episode). I felt like the choreography, more action is needed.

So all in all I liked. I see myself buying another animated Batman. I can also see how people do not like this "compilation"it is with the traditional separation of Batman. At least it is fresh and original, and demonstrates that the stories of Batman much more was said, it is.

Eureka

Customer Reviews

One of the few entertainment shows on television. Not that there is still much to be said, is worth a watch if you like Sci-fi and humor in one. Science is sometimes a bit 'controversial, but that's okay, because it is really character-driven Eureka. Where else can you find the gas station is a physical existence, the town dog catcher hunted wild animals from Africa to the Arctic, shrinking and runs a local bed-and-breakfast with a focus on "bed", if my drift.Add a Deputy whom, except for the by-the-book fanaticism, is very little like Barney Fife (better looking for one thing, and way more competent) and an Opie who may be autistic but can do differential calculus (on sidewalks) and you have "Eureka". One can only wonder if there's an Otis the Town Drunk lurking somewhere...and what he's imbibing. 4.5*'s at least.
