I had seen this movie before. I entered the waiting room for my MRI today, and you could hear a pin drop. It 'was a silence peremable, and I wondered what was going on. Then I saw the movie is playing, and the attention of people in the waiting room. The film ended as I was filling out paperwork. I've never seen this reaction. So ... I ordered from Amazon, and my lucky stars that he was still available. Chic-good flick, from what I remember. I neversaw a film is no longer available ... strange. Glad that I ordered, and can not believe the price I received.

Nothing But The Truth
Customer Reviews
This film should be angry, because it shows how the government works in our country. Why is not all true, all came close to the real story. This raises a whole series of moral conflicts. such as the need to press freedom tp protect the source (if you do not, not a free press) and the need to obtain the knowledge Govement crimes. This raises the question, the Federal has since really need to go that far? If the third source of your mind will say, what else do note thatwould help. The price paid by the reporters, the loss of families, for all a principle that many do not understand at all. This is a movie, you will get emotional and really feel for the two people caught in the middle and was the last act of the DA really needs ???????? Get seen and rewatch this movie and really show how far as a government to protect themselves and moral issues.

They Live
Customer Reviews
"They Live" is a great, almost forgotten movie by Director John Carpenter. "Rawdy" Roddy Piper stars as the main character, who accidently stumbles onto an Alien Invasion to take over the Earth! By wearing special sunglasses, one can see thru the Alien's disguises. Not only are the Alien's already here on Earth, but they have fully integrated into society! Most of the population of Earth has been brainwashed, and doesn't even notice the Alien's blimps, or the motto on their money, "This is your God". Once Roddy Piper finds out, he joins the rebels!
This movie is great! I highly recommend it! How can you not love the scene with an Alien having sex with a woman, and in the middle, his disguise doesn't work! Let's not forget the Classic, (20-Minute, no joke!), Fight Scene in the back alley! Fighting for that long because Piper's buddy won't wear some Sunglasses! Classic!
Run, don't walk to a PC near you! Really, buy this movie, you'll love it!

Night and Fog
Customer Reviews
Night and Fog Holocaust shows only ten years after the fact, while it is in everyone's memory is still fresh. The film shows the places where the fields are used and then comparing the same locations using the archival material available to show how these places have really changed. The film also shows pictures and videos of fields that have been behind closed doors by the victims, the type of behavior to show a sub-human and went, while people inoutside were under the control of a madman.
The effect of these images are nothing less than shocking and mindblowing. And 'curious to see how different are the places and what has changed in so little time. At the same time is incredibly disturbing to note that neither the ability to hold an event so terrible in their minds seems to be very long, and it is shocking to think and create. This film dares to confront these feelings, anddoes so in a way, as calm as any film I've seen effective. I think it is very important for a director is to have more movies like this job, if only to allow people an easier way of comparison with their feelings in this great tragedy and night and fog, shows the importance of this ideas in an accessible and accurate.
I think what impressed me most in this film is the technical examination. This film uses some ofeffective treatment I've seen. The effect of the film is flashing back and forth between the same place ten years ago, is what really came as awesome and I can not tell how many directors can inspire the use of the technique for comparative purposes, and the similarity of events . What works particularly well, as the sound of cinema, as a statement based on a simple conclusion, but this leads to a complicated and terrible part of human history. The film does not gothe political or religious events of the Holocaust how many people unilaterally. On the contrary, it shows the challenges of humanity and human life is weaker and it is damaged.
One thing to note is the documentation that goes for a completely unbiased perspective and open mind. The narrative has an important role in the narrative of the film allows a much more open. Michel Bouquet narrator speaks in a dry, allowing a neutral, wood, and coldthe film is a more passive sense to allow the material the viewer, the images for what they are rather than what the director wants to see you think of her. The music helps to improve only in this sense. The music sways back and forth between the tragic and melancholy, and light and whimsical. Many of these elections as an attempt to look a bit 'surreal cinema chaotic, but I see it as a very courageous decision that only the power of cinema and the power of his historicalRoots and is effective. This is a must-see!

Bless the Beasts & Children

Bless the Beasts and Children (Stanley Kramer, 1971)
Stanley Kramer was one of the great unheralded filmmakers of the sixties, perhaps because while his contemporaries have been known to churn out film after film, Kramer compositions were Moses from the mountain every few years or so placed during its heyday . But the sheer number of classic films from his work, the number of films he directed it faces is impressive to say the least. PraiseBeasts and Children, is much less visible and much less announced that beach or movies like 'one, Mad, Mad, Mad World. This is a crime.
Based on Glendon Swarthout winning novel of the same name (which was assigned reading when I was in sixth grade, my how the world has changed), Bless the beasts and Children opens with a memorable opening credits: the six main characters written Others The pin is open, and start the hunters shoot and kill to save them allCotton (Barry Robins). Targeting the hunter pulls her scarf, and found her mother to pull the trigger - at which point he wakes from his nightmare. Remember, this is the opening scene of the film, we no reference point for These images yet. It 'at this stage of the game, RAW image, and brute force. And 'from the get-go, who knows what Kramer was behind the camera, while obvious, even if you are not quite a film buff his name linked with his three OscarNominations for Best Director (for Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Judgement at Nuremberg and The Defiant Ones).
The rest of the film is between the creation of the framework in which to measure the opening scene and stories back to the six main characters balanced. While most people have sung the score (Carpenter remember the song title, was nominated for both an Oscar and a Grammy), the actors deserve much credit here. Children are excellent, every one of them. Adultsaround them all acting at least above average quality. This was an investment casting job entirely. They had to work a solid script (it's a bit 'simplified if they are in the finished book, although this is expected, with adaptations, it would also have a faithful adaptation of the book received an R-related, at least by the MPAA), and Kramer's direction and stunning photography by Michael Hugo (Bob Rafelson notorious leader is probablymost famous work), the whole package is huge.
Each film by Stanley Kramer has been forgotten is a farce. This is one of those that still the case. Deserves rediscovery. ****

Grass
Customer Reviews
Grass tells the fascinating story of the true story of the American government to fight against marijuana. The fight to criminalize other drugs is addressed, but the problem is only tangential to the theme of this film. Grass is actor Woody Harrelson, who is not a great job during the narration to disturb your ability to see not rare archival footage from newsreels and film school of public education, which so heavily tired to discourage young people from smoking relatedMarijuana.
They soon learn that the fight for marijuana use between the punishment began in the early 1900s, when Americans realized that Mexicans working here used marijuana at the end of the day to relax after a hard work. Rumors that the drug, Mexican men went wild and dangerous and physically as the laws against drugs were made in the past. We also have great archival footage of combat narcotic agent Anslinger drug use and even FDR signing legislation that criminalizesMarijuana under strict legal sanctions. On the other hand, we also see the former mayor of his six year study of New York LaGuardia, the true effects of marijuana on people to understand and as Anslinger wanted so much to destroy any copies of this report, that his hands. In one particular scene hard to swallow meet a young man who came home a decorated hero from Vietnam - but after his trial for possession of marijuana, was sentenced to 50 years in prison! Wow, that was hardJudgement.
Of course, you can see, JFK, Nixon, and even the relatively liberal former President Jimmy Carter are all trying to look like a hard drug crimes possible. It 'good to archive material from the conservative religious right and marched in their own protests against the hippie movement with the use of drugs. The archives of the hippies who have their own public protest are equally well presented. You have a marvelous graphics.
In essence, the grassSee that was the war against marijuana and other drugs is largely wasted in large economic costs to our government. You are right, unfortunately, drug use has continued, although we are sure that the "grass" can be seen not as dangerous as many government officials believe the wanted man. Do not you fool, do not become a deadly killer, and will suffer irreparable harm in any way. Nor is that you go to "harder" drugs such as heroin, although I think that may dependindividual. However, the government still ignores the results and plows, with its war against drugs, including marijuana.
It 'something that I hope people still remember. Any drug, including marijuana, can lead to potentially serious health risks. When the son of a mother series, drugged and made everyday twenty-four years nonstop, I can personally to the fact that my mother terribly addictive years almost certainly has taken off life slowly but surely testifyThe damage to their brain cells. She was unable to take care of our children and drugs are used properly in their conduct very real way that I can not discuss compromise here. When my mother finally entered rehab, had the chills and other symptoms of abstinence, and it was good.
The DVD has few extras. There is an optional director commentary, alternate and get a start, this film was not used. The other extras are also good.
Total is one of GrassMovies are better, the documents of a history of good work to do war on drugs - especially marijuana. I recommend this movie for people who study the war on drugs, and people interested in group psychology and sociology are this film.

Rented this film on a whim a few years back and have loved him ever since! Mr. Brooks is the guy you love to hate! I love Kevin Costner, and he has a great climber, haha! I bought it used for 88 cents plus postage, and could not be happier. Dane Cook's character is annoying, but because you must, and Dane has an advantage in getting more, in Hollywood. Twilight
Customer Reviews
Even though I had reservations about the changes the first movie based on books by Stephanie Meyer, I recently decided to break, and the purchase of Blu-ray version of the film and I must say that it was not as bad as feared. During the film, the horror aspect of the strip, the series of films is the myth of vampires in a unique way.
While the series seems more the angel's initial series of romantic drama enough to be the series of interestMost of the fans.
I approached the series in much the same way everyone else did, which was created more than a series of vampire-romance for teenage girls. But I found the series very much more. While there is something missing from this first film in the series seems to be, there were some positive aspects of the film. The baseball scene in which Bella joins the family of vampires, the Cullens, amid a storm reminds me of the Quidditch match in Harry Potter. And 'one ofthe best scenes of the film.
However, if you're not in romantic movies, you might want to avoid this film. But if you are looking for a new experience to the horror vampire myth to take, I would recommend this film. While spending a lot of time introducing the characters, the excess steam is the second film in the series, New Moon.

Who The #?&% Is Jackson Pollock
Customer Reviews
Thinking this was a documentary on Jackson Pollock, I borrowed from a local library. It turns out that more than one real-life mystery of a study by Pollock, the man or his work. But along the way, you learn a lot about this strange and fascinating figure, and his abstract painting (if the label on the right). The plot is simple: a truck women ignorant and brave pilot named Teri Horton, a big, strange paintings bought for a friend from a thrift store for $ 5. She is then saidlooks like a Jackson Pollock original. Is at the end who it was (she had no idea and thought that the painting was essentially garbage, because it was abstract) is the great value of his painting (an original new fetch fifty million dollars), and approaches the art world in the hope that it can be authenticated as a genuine Pollock.
The film is about how we know things (epistemology) - in this case, how can we know if a picture is painted by aparticular painter. Thus we arrive at a justified true belief, and this painting? It 'was painted by Pollock or not? To answer this, we must consider the criteria of authenticity. We find (at least) two cultures in conflict here. The culture of experts in the world of art and culture of forensic science. Those in the art world has largely rejected painting as genuine. Some opposed it strongly, others more slowly, but not an art expert recognized the painting as a certifiedPollock for the following reasons. (1) is not signed. (2) Not originates. Documented provenance on the genealogy of the painting, its causal ancestry or pedigree. Mrs. Horton bought a thrift shop and was not able to gather information beyond that. That seems like a painting without history. (3) not enough to look like a work of Pollock, the trained eye.
However, there is another angle to pursue - evience lawyers. Mrs. Horton plays a forensicThe experts who authenticated multiple images annonomous as legitimate works of famous artists. He found a fingerprint on the back of the painting that we found in Pollock's study results. He will also paint as used by Pollock. The art world does not care about this: Forensic art is not critical. There are two different worlds with two different sets of criteria.
This epistemological debate is fascinating, what I found on the film. I did not warm crunchyseventy-three, who discovered the painting. You can pity for his hard life and appreciate his feistiness, but it seems willfully crude and unnecessary - a painting by refusing questionable pedigree for at least nine million dollars for the sale. He says his lack of availability for nothing less than the total value of the sale of a Pollock is a matter of "principle". But that principle could be? Apparently, she is convinced it is a Pollock, and hired a professional art dealer, selling it as aas (a pretty smooth and slippery, to be sure). But every moral principle is violated when a painting is sold for nine million dollars, when in fact be, can be fifty million, but worth it? There are, after all, still good reason to question its authenticity.
What is intriguing are the epistemological elements (at least for the philosopher). What criteria are important in determining a normative work of art? If the experts assessing the work, size up to more intuitive, based onPrerequisites Pollock style. But not everyone agrees. Moreover, the artists change their style to some extent. The other side must be found with the attempt to paint some existing forensic quality (not cosmetic) who identified as the work of Pollack has been done. This includes photography, chemistry, and some 'history began (as documented provenance can not be determined). A big question is whether they create a plausible scenario, in which Pollack, a consolidatedif eccentric painter who somehow leaves one of his to lose, so that ends up in a thrift shop in California, have shown that in the other hand, in an art museum in New York or as part of a library art collector.
It 'hard to get a statement about the identity of this painting. But the problems of working through is both fascinating and rewarding. For a more accurate assessment, you would need much more than a film on which to base a verdict. This is not a movie, directly addresses the aesthetic value of paintings by Jackson Pollock or the philosophy behind his work. (At one point, Pollock set up the mechanical means by which pictures to leave, seeking his own personality and rely on the case. Francis Schaeffer assessed this philosophy, "How shall we then live?"), However, the film suggests ideas important about the art of knowing. Who is a reliable witness? What are the criteria for a proper assessment of the truth. For these reasons, IJoy in the film and can be used to teach these topics.
