Annie Hall

Customer Reviews

... Comics. We all know now intellectually with "Woody", excessive anxiety, underachieving inept in social life. We watched a little 'stand-up comedy routine to develop a fully developed character in the comic tradition of Charlie Chaplin's tramp or drunk fields. We know as "Woody" is in many situations we have already laughing before the joke act. Perhaps no one since Jack Benny is expected to be funny.
Yet there is always the realizationthat "Woody" is a projection of a real all Woody. That cartoon character, some painful truths. Which, as WC Fields was really drunk, so Woody Allen is probably so insecure about his height for girls, which usually incompetent in the daily struggle with life.
It is not that is the "real" Woody Allen as unfortunate as his creation of fantasy, but the character draws from the life of it through exaggeration. Annie Hall is the next Allen came withmaterials. It is not an autobiography, but we get the concept, sometimes, the scenes of the film were played first, really.
Allen plays Alvy Singer, stand-up comedian and incurable combination of neurotic and romantic. He is confident a New Yorker, a liberal, a Jew, an intellectual, a seeker after inaccessible and an expert on it unattainable. One of the problems of Alvy Singer is that he understands everything so well. He is not a victim ofForces outside its control, but their author.
And one problem that considers the provision itself is the problem of love. He falls in love too easily to girls, the right thing for him are all the ways little and inconsistent in all great. His girls tend to play is going through phases. If you are a liberal Adlai Stevenson at the end of 1950, he married another. When it comes to a romantic ten or fifteen years later, finds another, a kookie. His only problem is thatWomen are people, not stages.
This film dares in this material a bit 'more to go seriously and cohesive as they normally do in a film by Allen. Annie Hall is a comedy, yes, and there are times it's funny how Woody has done nothing, but the film is growing by Allen. By a director who has everything for a laugh, whose main task seems to be to exceed five minutes later, Allen in Sleeper, Love and Death, developed, and doing so in a movie wouldis much more reflective and (possible?) director more mature.
Perhaps that is why Annie Hall is a "nervous romance" Allen, because a little 'nervous about the boldness nostalgic, romantic and sentimental material. He throws in a few gags (like the funny walk-in Marshall McLuhan) almost to the old fans to calm down, laugh it all right to work. He wants to do much more only this time keep us laughing. With a look at some of its reports, someown model, wants to examine how a person works.
And then there are two Woody Allen here: our old friend Woody the original, making digressions like in-camera, and a new all who Alvy Singer creates his own image, then it always leaves a behavior, sometimes at cost of laughs. And 'the new Woody, who played the nervous romance, the complicated relationship with the aspiring nightclub singer Annie Hall (Diane Keaton has ainteresting mix of mothering, true love and absolute madness).
At the end of the story, we learned two things for certain: the long-term relationships are most likely impossible at this time or place (eg, New York City during the Woody Allen-life), and that life without search relations unthinkable. In film, Woody Groucho statement cites Marx would never for a club that someone like him would have accepted as a State. Then AllenMuses that perhaps should never be in a relationship where one partner has to sustain itself. Tricky, are not you? And in Annie Hall, it is very funny and sad, and difficult.
