Hearts in Atlantis has absolutely nothing to do with the legendary lost continent, if the film is to see and understand the title. The real plot of the film focuses on a 11 year old boy named Bobby Garfield and the people in his life. He is just a child who lives with his widowed mother in 1960, a small town in Connecticut and two friends, one male and one female. But the person who is ultimately the biggest influence on his life, Ted Brautigan, a mysterious new tenant played byAnthony Hopkins, a father figure to young Bobby, as one grows and is facing many challenges. Hearts in Atlantis is a film about the power of friendship and the ability to leave the past behind us and continue with their lives. There is much drama and a mature can make you cry, but it is also exciting in its way. All entries shall provide emotional benefits and director Scott Hicks (Shine), does a good job as well. The DVD has many special features, including full-lengthCommentary by director, an interview with Anthony Hopkins, also of Scott Hicks, and a nice gallery of photos. Ebert and Roeper give this movie two big thumbs up ", and so I, I can recommend it to anyone who appreciates this kind of drama.
